“KING OF KITCHENER 3” …THE FINAL NIGHT

It was Sunday evening September 14, 2008 at Kitchener ’s

Transylvania Club. A large crowd was waiting to see who would be crowned KING OF KITCHENER #3. King of Kitchener #1 was RICK DUIN and King of Kitchener #2 was PAUL ROSS . Some pretty large shoes were waiting to be filled!!! The evening was opened by JEFF MARSH who, along with his pretty wife SHEILA co-ordinated the Festival. Jeff, resplendent in his sundial jumpsuit, provided the audience with a snapshot of Elvis’ final concert staged just a couple of months before his untimely death.

The set ran just over 45 minutes. Even Elvis’ drink & scarf man (James Gibb) was kept busy. Jeff was backed by Rudy & the Angels.

While awaiting final judging tabulations, several tribute artists donated their talents to entertain the audience … including Dawn Peddie, Rick Duin, Anthony Von and David Lee.

In the YOUTH category First Place Honours went to Brenen Katolinsky with Second Place to Zachary Peddie and Third to Davis Campbell. Topping the winners’ list for the EARLY YEARS was James Gibb with Brycen Katolinsky Second and Bruce Herron Third. The CONCERT YEARS winner was Australian Mark Anthony with Second Place Honours going to John Cigan and Third to Thor Bonfig. The overall points winner and Festival GRAND CHAMPION was Mark Anthony .. who is now crowned as “THE KING OF KITCNER #3”. This was a well-attended KING OF KITCHENER and an exceptional collection of vendors were kept busy selling a wide variety of Elvis keepsakes.

The finals performances by this year’s Youth competitors were awesome – this might have collectively been their best showing ever. Some tough judging decisions were called for.

The “Open Mike” sessions at ZEKE’S were, as always, a ton of fun! Camaraderie is an important item in the Elvis Family.

Once again – Many thanks to Jeff & Sheila Marsh and their volunteers for a job well done. Onwards to KING OF KITCHENER #4.
