The very best Elvis judges anywhere click here for resultsof this show Brantford 2008 by Joan Minnery Wasn't THAT A Party!!! For two days this past weekend, Brantford was transformed into a reincarnation of the Ed Sullivan Show meets Woodstock. The concert that never was...the greatest performers in music history, all sharing the stage. We came, we conquered, we kicked some Royal Musical Butt!!!
From the onset of the weekend on Friday night at the rehearsal party and the entertainers arriving, the mood was set for voyage down memory lane. Geph Mitchell paced the room and with his chest high he declared "I've got a really good feeling about this room...this weekend is going to be special....a good feeling". Clint Lucier, sitting nearby, always the joker, went out of character and said, "I feel it too, this is going to work".
Yes Geph and Clint...it did work...it worked far better than any of us could have imagined.
Rock of Ages is an absolute success, a weekend of mayhem that proved that you can go home again....just change the direction you're travelling sometimes.
From John Denver to Johnny Cash, Elvis to Dolly Parton, Boy George to Willie Nelson...it was a marathon of music legends all weekend. Topped off by the spectacular 4 hour concert put on by Brantford's OWN Rockin' Thru the Ages Showcase, which had crowds in rapture with the array of talent on stage and the non-stop in your face ride back in time to recapture some memories from 1955-1975. The 12 piece live band was unstoppable and feasibly the best rock and roll show we have ever put on at ANY event. One of the proudest moments in a 15 year career. Mind you, the mammoth Air Canada sound system certainly scared a few folks...
We had everything this weekend, including an Emcee dressed at John Belushi from Animal House, complete with Toga. Jamie Stephens was a scream!!!
The talent was amazing...a superior cast through and through. Not a bad one in the whole bunch...stellar top notch performances from everyone. VERY laid back, nice camaraderie throughout the whole weekend, tons of support for one another and although disappointments happened, loss of spirit did not. It was very very friendly and welcoming. A change was needed and we accomplished that...
Rock of Ages was indeed an amazingly successful event...quite frankly, it may have been better than the Brantford Elvis Festival, and YES we will be doing it again next year and for many more years to come.
To ALL of our supporters, and my goodness we packed the house to the rafters...I say a very loud and echoing "Thank You...Thank YOU Very Much"
We Are BACK!!!
