Brantford 2007
Review
Chris Cooper, an Elvis Tribute Artist, submitted his thoughts on the Brantford Festival
The 8th Annual Brantford Elvis Festival was held at the Sanderson Centre in Brantford Ontario. This year’s festival drew in 60 talented ETA’s ranging from juniors to veterans. As this festival fell right after the 30th Anniversary of Elvis Presley’s passing, the spirit of Elvis was felt throughout each performance.
This year’s MC/Headliner was the one and only Anthony Von. Anthony brought energy, charisma and humour to the weekend (not to mention incredible showmanship). Last year’s Pro Division champ Tim E. performed an amazing Vegas years tribute. It was obvious why he was the Grand Champion!
Nevin and Heather Grant represented the King’s Court as part of the judging panel.
As this was the Final Hoorah for the Brantford Elvis festival, the emotions were running high for the performers, fans, and most of all, the organizers. Joan Minnery and Rose Cronin have put years of hard work and dedication into these festivals, and they went out with class and dignity. Both Joan and Rose were honoured with heart warming tributes from the ETA’s.
In conclusion, it is sad to see the curtain close on this festival as it will surely be missed.
