2009 LONDON CAMP TRILLIUM FUNDRAISER:

Heather and I were honoured to be invited, along with fellow King’s Court jurists Wendy King , Echo Parker, Burt Thombs and tabulator Mary Thombs, to Dan Coursal’s Second Annual London charity fundraiser at the popular MARCONI CLUB.

Dan and his co-host Randy kept things moving across the evening and the admission fees, silent auctions and 50/50 draw helped to raise a considerable sum for CAMP TRILLIUM .

Dan was a man of many surprises. Adding to his roster of expected personal tributes (Elvis Presley & Conway Twitty) were tributes to Roy Orbison and, believe it or not, Dean Martin (with Randy providing his frantic sidekick Jerry Lewis)! Among the entertainers were Brenen and Brycen Katolinsky, Rick Duin, Norm Ackland, Shon Carroll, John Cigan, Mason Cigan, Dave Robinson, Danny Granger and a special ETA guest from Florida , Jeremy Ewbank.

Halfway through the show, a fine spread of food was enjoyed by all and the Marconi Club appeared to be near-capacity, which speaks well to the efforts of Dan and Randy to promote the event. Actually, the good vibes and fine entertainment should guarantee another solid house for the 3 rd Annual London Tribute Show. If you missed One and Two … make sure you’re on hand for the 2010 fundraiser!!!

Nevin Grant

-----------------------------------------

If you want to feel optimistic and upbeat in these uncertain times, just get a group of Elvis’ and Legends' fans together and give them a great show!  That’s what Dan Courol and Randy Anderson and their hard working families did for us March 14th in London.  I think all of us, performers and fans alike, all anxious to get together again after what has seemed like an endless winter!

It was a full night of entertainment with performances by Elvis, Dion, Richie Valens, Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison to name a few.   Nevin has mentioned the performers who attended and you can tell it was a great variety so everyone could enjoy their favorite genre of music.

Dan and Randy did a great job hosting the evening and giving out dozens of prizes. We all learned a few things in the process.  Did you know that Johnny Cash’s neighbour in Tennessee was Roy Orbison??  Or that Elvis’ dad, Vernon, signed the deed for Graceland?

There was also one unexpected comedic moment during Danny Granger’s performance of “C’mon Everybody”….he was getting some help from the lovely background dancers Desiree and Vanessa. Then came to the big finish when Danny went to dip both girls at once, sending all three of them flying into the back curtain and backdrop, knocking down the sign. In classic Danny form, he quipped “ Its hard to handle two Ann Margret’s at once!!!”

It was a fun, casual evening.  The King's Court was so pleased to be invited and treated so warmly.

 See you in 2010.

 Wendy King
